Auto Car Hire SA and Tortoise Car Hire form part of a privately owned Car Hire company, with branches based in George and Sedgefield – servicing the Garden Route. We are convenient, affordable and flexible.
We deliver and collect vehicles for your convenience anywhere in the Garden Route, including Mossel Bay, George, Wilderness, Sedgefield, Knysna and Plettenberg Bay.
When flying to- or departing from George your vehicle exchange will be handled conveniently at the drop-and-go in front of the airport! We will be waiting for you!
What sets us apart are our good quality cars, bakkies and minibuses at affordable packages. We also accept cash, efts and both debit and credit cards and do not require excessive deposit fees.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS
1. ACH shall mean ATLAS CAR HIRE cc t/a Tortoise Car Hire of 23 Uil Street, Sedgefield and Auto Hire SA car rental of 126 Merriman Street, George
2. We reserve the right to refuse the rental of a vehicle to anyone, when done in the best interest of the renting company or customer
3. Rates do not include fuel.
4. We reserve the right to collect a deposit covering the estimated rental charges.
5. Unautorised drivers - This vehicle cannot be driven by any other person other than the Renter(s) listed
6. All parking tickets/traffic violations as well as toll road charges are the full responsibility of the renter(s)
7. I agree to the terms and conditions on the attached hereof
8. Damages shall include the actual expenditure incurred in towing, transporting and storing the vehicle, repairing any physical damage, replacing parts and/or accessories (without any allowance for depreciation), remunerating an expert to assess collision damage and to report thereon, and reimbursing such an expert for any expenses incurred by him (an invoice or quotation produced by ACH by prima facie proof of expenditure).
9. The standard excess of R8 000.00 applies to all vehicles expect the VW Tiguan and Hyundai H1 which has an excess of R25 000 in the event of an accident or theft, unless otherwise specified. Super insurance is available at an additional cost, which lowers the excess to R3500.00 for the normal vehicles and R8000.00 for the VW Tiguan and Hyundai H1.
10. To process damages/claim(s), a R450 admin fee applies
11. The Renter will be bound by these terms and conditions, whether he was driving the vehicle or not.
12. The renter or additional driver shall however be fully liable for all damages of any nature if this vehicle described herein shall be operated in violation of any of the provisions of this rental agreement.
13. The third party liability insurance does not cover any damages sustained by the renter or occupant personally
14. Car Hire works on a 24 hour clock, so if you rent from 10am Monday to 10am Tuesday this is considered 1 day. If you rent from 10am Monday to 1pm Tuesday you have then passed 24 hours and have therefore entered a second day of rental and will therefore be charged for 2 days rental
15. Fuel is not included in the daily rate or km allowance per day
We reserve the right to charge a valet of R250.00.
We reserve the right to charge a surcharge of a R100 together with the fuel amount should we have to top-up the fuel to the appropriate level.
The deposit amount when renting is R2500.
